How does the leaderboard work?

Updated May 12, 2026 Employee

The leaderboard shows how you stack up against your colleagues in a challenge. It's designed to spark friendly competition while giving you full control over your privacy.

Leaderboard Types

Every challenge has two leaderboard views:

Individual Leaderboard

Ranks every participant by their personal score. Your rank is based on your total or weekly performance across the challenge tasks.

Team Leaderboard

If the challenge includes teams, a separate leaderboard ranks teams by their average score (not the sum — more on this below).

Time Periods

You can toggle between two time views:

  • Weekly — Your scores for the current week only. Resets each Monday.
  • Overall — Your cumulative scores since the challenge started (or since you joined).

How Scores Work

Scoring depends on the task type:

Task Type Scoring Upper Limit
Steps Total steps counted No ceiling
Distance Total distance covered No ceiling
Calories Total active calories burned No ceiling
Active Minutes Total active minutes logged No ceiling
Other tasks (water, sleep, meals, mood, etc.) Percentage of daily target completed Capped at 100% per day

For steps, distance, calories, and active minutes, there's no upper ceiling — the more you do, the higher your score. For other task types, you can earn up to 100% per day, meaning everyone has an equal opportunity regardless of how much they exceed the target.

Score Breakdown

Want to know exactly how your score is calculated? Tap your own row on the leaderboard to see a detailed score breakdown showing your contribution from each task.

Filtering and Searching

The leaderboard includes tools to help you find specific people or narrow the view:

  • Filter by department — See how you rank within your department.
  • Search by name — Find a specific colleague quickly.

Tip: Use the department filter to find a more relevant comparison group, especially in large company-wide challenges.

How Often Does It Update?

The leaderboard updates when activity syncs. In practice, this means:

  • Your latest activity appears on the leaderboard within minutes of syncing.
  • If you just finished a workout, open the app and let it sync, then check the leaderboard.

Privacy: Opting Out

If you prefer not to appear on the leaderboard, you can opt out entirely. See Can I Opt Out of the Leaderboard? for details.
