What are challenges in Vantage Fit?

Updated May 12, 2026 Employee

Challenges are the heart of Vantage Fit. They're time-bound wellness programs created by your HR admin where you complete health tasks — steps, water, meditation, custom habits — individually or in teams. You compete on leaderboards, earn points, and build healthy habits along the way.

Finding Challenges

Open the Challenges tab (bottom navigation) to see three tabs:

  • Ongoing — challenges currently running that you're part of or can join
  • Upcoming — challenges that haven't started yet
  • Past — completed challenges with your results and certificates

You'll also see active challenges on your Home screen in a carousel.

Challenge Formats

Your company can set up different types of challenges:

Format What It Is Best For
Custom Challenge Multi-week with different themes and tasks each week Ongoing wellness programs
Race Challenge Simple step competition — pure leaderboard race Quick, competitive events
Journey Challenge Visual milestone map — progress through landmarks as you walk Engaging, story-driven challenges
E-Marathon Steps converted to distance (e.g., 1000 steps = 1 km) Virtual marathon events
Streak Challenge Hit a daily step target — maintain your streak Building daily habits

Some companies may also have Level Challenges, Marathon Events (real GPS tracking), Weight Burn challenges, and Training Plans.

How to Join a Challenge

You may be added to a challenge automatically, or you can join yourself:

  • Auto-enrolled — your admin added you based on your department, location, or other criteria. You'll see it in your Ongoing tab.
  • Invited — you'll receive an email or notification. Tap to accept or decline.
  • Self-join — browse Upcoming or Ongoing challenges and tap "Join."

Tip: You can join a challenge even after it's started. Your leaderboard score counts from your join date forward.

Completing Tasks

Each challenge has one or more tasks with targets. How you complete them depends on the task type:

  • Auto-tracked (steps, distance, calories, active minutes) — syncs from your phone or device automatically
  • Manual log (water, mood, weight, yoga, etc.) — tap the log button and enter your value
  • Custom activities — employer-branded activities, logged from the challenge task list
  • Adherence/habits — daily check-in (e.g., "Did you avoid sugar today?")
  • Content (watch a video, read an article) — completion tracked when you view it

Leaderboards

Every challenge has a leaderboard ranking participants by score:

  • Individual leaderboard — your personal score
  • Team leaderboard — your team's average score (if teams are enabled)
  • Weekly and Overall time periods
  • Filterable by department and searchable by name

You can opt out of the leaderboard for privacy — you still participate but are hidden from rankings.

Teams

If the challenge supports teams:

  • A captain creates a team and invites colleagues
  • Or your admin pre-creates teams
  • Team score = average of all members' scores (not the sum — so inactive members lower the average)
  • Separate team leaderboard alongside individual

Rewards

You can earn:

  • Leaderboard points — on task completion (real-time)
  • Vantage Points — redeemable for gift cards (if your company has rewards enabled)
  • Completion certificates — auto-generated with your company's branding
  • Badges — for specific achievements

When a Challenge Ends

  • There's a 3-day buffer for late step syncs after the challenge ends
  • Certificates are auto-generated (if enabled)
  • Results stay visible in the Past tab indefinitely
  • Your HR admin picks top performers for recognition
