Vantage Fit includes an AI-powered squat tracker that uses your phone's camera to count your squats in real time. No wearable needed -- just your phone and enough space to move.
Getting Started
- Tap the Plus (+) button on the Summary tab
- Select Start Squats Workout from the menu
Setting Up Your Position
Before you start squatting, the app needs to see your full body:
- Prop your phone up against a stable surface (a wall, a chair, a water bottle -- anything that keeps it upright)
- Position the camera so it can see your entire body from head to toe
- Step back far enough that you're fully visible in the frame
- The app will show an on-screen guide or silhouette to help you position yourself correctly
Tip: Place your phone at about waist height for the best angle. Too high or too low and the AI may have trouble detecting your pose accurately.
Performing Your Squats
Once you're positioned:
- The app will indicate when it has detected your body and is ready to count
- Start squatting at your normal pace
- The AI pose detection tracks your movement through the camera and counts each rep automatically
- You'll see a live counter on screen updating with each completed squat
The AI detects the full squat motion -- standing to squat depth and back up counts as one rep. Half-reps or very shallow bends may not register.
Finishing Up
When you're done:
- Tap Stop or Finish to end the session
- The app shows your summary:
- Total squat count -- how many reps the AI counted
- Duration -- how long your session lasted
Your squat session is automatically logged in your activity history.
Tips for Better Tracking
- Good lighting matters -- The AI needs to see your body clearly. Avoid backlit positions (don't stand in front of a bright window)
- Wear contrasting clothing -- Avoid wearing clothes that blend into the background
- Full range of motion -- Squat to at least parallel (thighs parallel to the ground) for the most reliable counting
- Steady phone placement -- If the phone wobbles or falls during your set, the tracking may reset or miscount
- Clear the area -- Make sure no one else walks through the frame, as additional people may confuse the detection
Note: The squat tracker works best with a single person in frame. If others are visible, the AI may have difficulty isolating your movements.
Privacy
The camera feed is processed on your device for pose detection. The video is not recorded or stored. The only data saved is your rep count and session duration.
What If the Counter Seems Off?
If the squat tracker isn't counting accurately:
- Check your positioning -- Make sure your full body is visible, head to toe
- Improve lighting -- Move to a brighter area or turn on room lights
- Slow down slightly -- Very fast reps may not register clearly
- Try a different angle -- Side-facing positions sometimes work better than head-on
