Can I run challenges across multiple time zones?

Updated May 19, 2026 Admin

Yes — Vantage Fit supports challenges that span countries and time zones. You can run a single challenge for employees in New York, London, Bangalore, and Singapore at the same time without setting up four parallel events.

How It Works

When you create a challenge, you set the start and end dates in your own time zone. For each participating employee, Vantage Fit then:

  • Localizes the start time. An employee in Bangalore sees the challenge start at midnight local time on the start date — not at the equivalent of your kickoff time.
  • Localizes the daily reset. For step counts, water logs, and other daily-target tasks, each employee's day resets at midnight local time. No one is disadvantaged by living in a region where the challenge "ends" early.
  • Localizes the end time. Each employee's last day runs to midnight local on the end date.

This means a 30-day step challenge that starts on May 1 is a true 30 calendar days for every participant, regardless of where they're located.

Localized Rewards

Reward values are configured in USD at the task level, but employees see them converted to their local currency in the app and wallet. The gift-card redemption catalogue also surfaces vendors and denominations relevant to each employee's country.

For example, an employee in India browsing the catalogue will see INR-denominated cards from local vendors; an employee in the US will see USD cards from US vendors. They earn the same points for completing the same task.

Edge Cases to Be Aware Of

  • Live notifications. A push notification sent at 9am in your time zone arrives at the corresponding local time for each participant. If you want a notification to land at 9am for the recipient, send it at the time-zone-appropriate moment for them, or stagger sends.
  • Manual edits to dates. If you reschedule a live challenge, participants are notified via the in-app feed. Be aware that the new dates re-localize for each participant — give them advance notice.
  • Reports. Date-range filters on reports use your admin time zone, not the participant's. A report for "challenge end day" may include events that, in the participant's view, were on the day before or after.

When to Use This

Most companies running a single wellness program across multiple regions can simply create one challenge and let localization happen automatically. Reasons to split into per-region challenges instead:

  • You want region-specific themes or rewards (e.g. INR-only gift card pool for India team)
  • You want region-specific start dates aligned to local launch campaigns or holidays
  • Different regions have very different participation modes (e.g. some on Lite Mode, some on Full)

In those cases, create one challenge per region using the target audience filters (by country or location) to scope participation.
