How do I connect my Fitbit?

Updated May 12, 2026 Employee

Connecting your Fitbit lets Vantage Fit receive your step data and workouts from Fitbit. Once connected, your Fitbit becomes your primary step source — more accurate than phone-only tracking.

How to Connect Fitbit

  1. Open Vantage Fit and go to Settings
  1. Tap "Device Management"
  1. Tap "Fitbit" → then "Connect"
  1. Read the disclaimer — Vantage Fit explains what data will be shared. Tap to continue.
  1. Fitbit login page opens — sign in with your Fitbit account credentials (email and password)
  1. Authorize Vantage Fit — Fitbit asks you to confirm that Vantage Fit can access your activity data. Tap "Allow" or "Authorize".
  1. Connection complete — your Fitbit steps and workout data begin syncing to Vantage Fit

Historical Step Import

After connecting, Vantage Fit offers to import your last 30 days of step data from Fitbit. This is helpful if you're joining a challenge and want your recent activity counted.

Tip: Accepting the historical import means your step counts for the past month will appear in Vantage Fit retroactively. This is optional.

How Fitbit Syncing Works

Once connected, Vantage Fit receives your data from Fitbit, not from Apple Health or Google Fit:

When What Happens
When you open the app Steps update from Fitbit
Manual sync Tap Sync from the Plus (+) menu

Note: Make sure your Fitbit is syncing to the Fitbit app regularly. Vantage Fit can only show Fitbit activity after it has reached your Fitbit account.

What Changes When Fitbit is Connected

When Fitbit is your connected device, it becomes your only step source:

  • Steps come from Fitbit only — Apple Health and Google Fit step data is ignored
  • Workout data from Fitbit is available for import
  • Step accuracy improves — wrist-based counting from Fitbit is more reliable than phone sensors

This prevents double-counting. You won't see inflated step numbers from multiple sources.

How to Disconnect Fitbit

If you want to switch to a different device or go back to phone-only tracking:

  1. Go to Settings → Device Management
  2. Tap Fitbit
  3. Tap "Disconnect"
  4. Vantage Fit can no longer access your Fitbit data
  5. Steps will now come from Apple Health (iPhone) or Google Fit (Android) again

Note: Disconnecting doesn't delete your historical data in Vantage Fit. Your past steps and activities remain in your history.
