Connecting your Garmin device lets Vantage Fit receive your step and workout data from Garmin. Your data updates automatically after your Garmin device syncs to Garmin Connect.
How to Connect Garmin
- Open Vantage Fit and go to Settings
- Tap "Device Management"
- Tap "Garmin" → then "Connect"
- Read the disclaimer — Vantage Fit explains what data will be shared. Tap to continue.
- Garmin login page opens — a login page opens in the app. Sign in with your Garmin Connect credentials.
- Authorize Vantage Fit — Garmin asks you to confirm data sharing. Tap "Authorize".
- Connection complete — Garmin will now send your activity data to Vantage Fit automatically
How Garmin Syncing Works
Garmin syncing is different from Fitbit or Apple Health. After your Garmin device syncs to Garmin Connect, Vantage Fit updates automatically.
| How | What Happens |
|---|---|
| Automatic updates | Garmin data updates after your device syncs to Garmin Connect |
| Hands-off syncing | No need to keep the Vantage Fit app open |
| Manual sync | Pulls your last 7 days of data from Garmin if something seems missing |
Tip: You don't need to keep Vantage Fit open for Garmin steps to count. This is the most hands-off integration available.
What Data Garmin Sends
| Data Type | Available |
|---|---|
| Daily step total | Yes |
| Hourly step breakdown | No |
| Workouts | Yes (type, duration, distance, calories) |
| Heart rate | Yes (summary data) |
| Sleep | Yes (if tracked by your Garmin device) |
Note: Garmin only provides daily step totals — not hourly breakdowns. The hourly step chart in Vantage Fit won't show detailed data when Garmin is your connected device.
Reconnecting Garmin
Your Garmin connection may need to be refreshed periodically. When this happens:
- You'll see a notification or prompt asking you to reconnect
- Go to Settings → Device Management → Garmin → Connect and sign in again
- Your data history is preserved — only the live connection needs refreshing
Note: If your Garmin steps suddenly stop appearing, try reconnecting. It takes about 30 seconds.
Manual Sync
If your recent data seems incomplete or delayed:
- Go to Settings → Device Management → Garmin
- Tap "Manual Sync" (or the sync option)
- Vantage Fit updates your last 7 days of Garmin data
This is useful after reconnecting or if you suspect a sync gap.
How to Disconnect Garmin
- Go to Settings → Device Management
- Tap Garmin
- Tap "Disconnect"
- Vantage Fit can no longer access your Garmin data
- Steps will now come from Apple Health (iPhone) or Google Fit (Android) again
Disconnecting doesn't delete your historical data in Vantage Fit.
