If your leaderboard score does not match what you expect, there are a few things to check. Most of the time it is a sync or timing issue that resolves on its own.
Scores May Take a Few Minutes to Update
Leaderboard scores may take a few minutes to update. This means there can be a short delay (a few minutes) between when you complete an activity and when your score updates on the leaderboard.
What to do: Wait a few minutes and pull-to-refresh on the leaderboard screen.
Steps from the Past 24 Hours Can Backfill
If you use a wearable device (Fitbit, Garmin, Apple Watch), step data from the past 24 hours can arrive in batches. Your score may jump as backfilled data is processed.
What to do: Check back after your device completes its sync. Fitbit and Garmin in particular may have longer sync intervals.
Fitbit and Garmin Sync Delays
If you are connected to Fitbit or Garmin, data sync may take longer than phone-based step counting:
| Source | Typical Delay |
|---|---|
| Phone sensors | Near real-time (within minutes) |
| Apple Watch / Google Fit | A few minutes |
| Fitbit | Up to 15-30 minutes |
| Garmin | Daily totals only, can take up to an hour |
Note: Garmin provides daily step totals, not hourly breakdowns. Your Garmin steps may not appear until the day's total is synced.
Check Your Score Breakdown
Tap on your row in the leaderboard to see a detailed score breakdown:
- Score per task (for Custom challenges with multiple tasks).
- Score per week (for multi-week challenges).
- Steps counted.
- Activities logged.
This breakdown shows exactly where your points are coming from and can help identify any discrepancies.
Understanding Score Caps
Different task types have different scoring rules:
| Task Type | Scoring |
|---|---|
| Steps | Capped at 25,000 steps per day by default. Steps above the daily cap do not earn extra leaderboard points. Your HR admin may have a different cap configured for specific challenges. |
| Other tasks (activities, content, quizzes) | Capped at 100% of the target. Going over the target does not earn extra points. |
For example, if a task requires logging 3 yoga sessions this week and you log 5, you still only earn points for 3 (100% of target).
Tip: Focus on completing all tasks rather than over-completing one. Since non-step tasks are capped, your time is better spent hitting 100% on every task.
Team Scores
If you are in a team challenge, team scores are calculated as the average of all team members' scores, not the sum.
This means:
- A team of 5 where everyone scores 80 has a team score of 80.
- A team of 10 where everyone scores 60 has a team score of 60.
- Adding a low-scoring member can bring down the team average.
Note: Team score = average encourages every team member to participate, rather than relying on a few high performers.
Pull-to-Refresh
The simplest fix for an outdated leaderboard:
- Open the leaderboard in the app.
- Pull down on the screen to refresh.
- The leaderboard reloads with the latest data from the server.
Still Looks Wrong?
If your score looks incorrect even after refreshing and waiting:
- Check your device sync. Make sure your wearable or phone is syncing steps to Vantage Fit.
- Compare with your score breakdown. Tap your row to see the detailed breakdown.
- Contact your HR admin. They can view your score details from the admin dashboard and investigate further.
